The title truly says it all. Here's a light-hearted, 3D action-adventure movie about an actual Monster Truck! And it features a wild-'n-crazy premise that involves an alien-like creature (named "Creech," naturally), who has attached its undulating tentacles to the inner parts of an old beaten-up pickup truck belonging to a teenage mechanic (played by "MacGyver" star Lucas Till). And the kid is more than happy to see his four-wheeled junker turned into a monster-powered racing machine. Inevitably, things go south when an evil monster hunter (Fight Club's Holt McCallany) catches wind of the vehicle's peculiar activities.

Also starring "Don't Breathe" actress Jane Levy, "Monster Trucks," which has suffered some scheduling and post-production difficulties (the film's release date was pushed back multiple times, which is never a good sign), is marking the live-action directorial debut of Oscar-winning animator and Blue Sky Studios co-founder Chris Wedge. He's the director of the first "Ice Age" movie and the 2005 animated hit "Robots."

Co-starring Danny Glover, Thomas Lennon, Amy Ryan, Barry Pepper and Rob Lowe, "Monster Trucks" is due to hit theaters on January 13, 2017.

synopsis:
Looking for any way to get away from the life and town he was born into, Tripp (Lucas Till), a high school senior, builds a Monster Truck from bits and pieces of scrapped cars. After an accident at a nearby oil-drilling site displaces a strange and subterranean creature with a taste and a talent for speed, Tripp may have just found the key to getting out of town and a most unlikely friend.
