From the acclaimed filmmaker of the Oscar-winning foreign drama "A Separation" comes a new tense marriage drama about a couple struggling to survive in Tehran.

Check out the newly-released U.S. trailer for writer-director Asghar Farhadi's "The Salesman," starring the director's frequent collaborators, Shahab Hosseini (A Separation) and Taraneh Alidoosti (About Elly).

The film tells the story of an Iranian couple who also working theater actors (played by Hosseini and Alidoosti). Rehearsing for an upcoming production of Arthur Miller's classic stage play "Death of a Salesman," the couple's marriage is forever altered when an unforeseeable yet tragic incident occurs at their apartment building.

Back in May, the drama received strong reviews at the Cannes Film Festival. Farhadi's original screenplay and Hosseini's leading performance were both lauded and given awards by the Cannes jury. The film was ultimately acquired in a joint purchase by Amazon Studios and Cohen Media Group.

Selected by Iran as their official 2016 entry for an Academy Award in the Best Foreign Film category, "The Salesman" will be coming to select U.S. theaters on January 27.

After their old flat becomes damaged, Emad (Shahab Hosseini) and Rana (Taraneh Alidoosti), a young couple living in Tehran, are forced to move into a new apartment. Eventually, an incident linked to the previous tenant of their new home dramatically changes the couple’s life.
